This party gets an 8 in my book just for the venue location.
I loved the venue! It was in a 3 story dance studio building in the downtown district of Covington, KY. The city was very clean and there was a parking garage down the street from where the party was so I didn’t have to hunt for a parking spot. And it was only $3 for the night. That made things very convenient. Lol
When you first walk into the building they had the main stage set up in the corner of the room. The place looked huge when I first walked in there but when the party was over and all the lights were turned on, it didn’t look as big. I think the mirrors gave the room it a huge depth perception. Oh the mirrors….. Since it was a dance studio they had mirrors on both sides of the walls on each floor. That’s was my favorite thing about the place, besides the wooden floors. I love to watch myself dance because I get to actually see what my body does when I move which also pushes me to try different movements.
So the venue only had 2 bathrooms in the whole place. Literally, 1 toilet on the main floor and 1 toilet on the 3rd floor and that was it. They were clean where we first got there but by the end of the night they were trashed. Oh and whoever decided how big the smoking area was gonna be “u suck”. The smoking area like 10 x 10 in the back of the building that was enclosed with a little plastic fence that came up to my knees. Every time I went out there it was totally crapped. It was seriously uncomfortable, but whatever.
All the good projects and lasers were on the 3rd floor. They would reflect off the mirrors against the wall which gave the illusion that there were twice as many and gave the project patterns different shapes and movements. Also, for some weird reason the 3rd floor was the coolest room. They had the air conditioning blasting up there. I would continuously go up the stairs just to stand in from of them. Lol. But oh man, those stairs were killer @ times. The basement only had 1 flight of stairs but the 3rd floor had 2. I counted them every time I went up and down…..lol
The basement was where the yummy dub step was playing. My favorite set was Kaiten’s. He threw it down! Most of what he spun was really hard and heavy. I had to take a couple of breaks from his set due to the goodies that I was on. They didn’t compliment well with the dark grungy basement mixed with dub step. His set plus the environment was a lot to take in. Wish he would of thrown down some lighter softer tracks, but I can totally understand why he did what he did. Have to represent.

Either way, the set was dope.
I missed Freaky Flow’s set. But I did get to see him when he first arrived to the venue when I was outside smoking in that little ass fenced in area. I’m not a fan of drum and bass but Sondra said his set was uber fantastic. I’ll take her word for it. I am jealous that she caught one of the t-shirts that he was throwing into the crowd.
Was disappointed in Skylab’s set…..That's all I am going to say about that…..
I have to say though that my all time favorite set of the night was Beat Poet’s. OMG! Talk about throwing down some old school funky disco house music. She rocked my night. House is the music I grew up on when I first got into the scene and her set made me stomp the floor so hard. It brought back so many memories on why I love the rave scene. Thank you Beat Poet.

All together it was a really fun party. Met cool kids, watched hell of good hula hoop dancers twist and turn their bodies, got memorized by some kid spinning glow sticks, saw a couple of my party kids, tripped, smoked, danced, laughed my ass off, and then called it a night….
p.s. stu i was there... even saw ur set, although the girls that were practically naked dancing on the stage distracted me @ times.... lol
