DJ SHORTEE
Los Angeles, CA

http://www.facebook.com/djshorteemusic

Recognized as the most diverse and technically skilled female DJ in the world, Shortee’s 15 year career is highlighted by an unparalleled series of firsts. Shortee is the only female ever to be a ‘Power Mixer’ on Power 106FM in Los Angeles, first female to produce an instructional DJ DVD series, only female ever to produce a solo turntablist album and the first female to produce a battle record. Named “Queen of the Scratch World” by DJ Times and ranked the 1 female Turntablist/Hip Hop DJ worldwide, Shortee has been described as the “World’s Premier Female DJ” by the Grammy Foundation and her unique contribution to the art of DJing earned her a spot as the only female DJ featured in Doug Pray's critically acclaimed movie "SCRATCH".

There are few DJs that are truly respected globally in such a wide variety of genres like Shortee. She spins everything from House, Hip Hop, Top40, Mash Up, Funk, Soul, Rock, Drum & Bass, Breaks & Dubstep. Her fast paced mixing style, expert scratching skills and energetic stage presence has made her one of the most in demand DJs touring worldwide in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa & the Middle East.

From underground massives to high profile events, Shortee also performs for corporate giants such as Playboy, New Line Cinemas, Tiffany, Sprite, Frito Lay and Activision. Playboy's 50th Anniversary Club Tour DJ, she has also toured alongside world-class artists such as KRS One, Supernatural, Method Man, Craze, Q-bert, Z-Trip and The Roots among others. She was the opening act of the widely popular Pendulum Live Tour and has toured as the DJ for Bahamadia and legendary Hip Hop pioneer Roxanne Shante of the Juice Crew (Biz Markie and Marley Marl). In addition to being a veteran globetrotter, Shortee has also made the rounds on the silver screen, starring in an array of documentary movies as well as making several TV appearances including NBC’s “Hip Hop Nation”, MTV’s “Date My Mom”, the Tyra Banks Show, and a celebrity cameo in a Sony PSP commercial.

Making her production debut in 1998, Shortee appeared on Faust's critically lauded "Man or Myth" (first turntablist album ever released). The following year, Shortee's full length solo debut "The Dreamer" became the first and only turntablist album produced by a female. Shortee has since produced multiple albums, singles, eps, battle records, remixes, appeared on numerous compilations and released a jaw dropping 38 DJ mixes. Her skills as a DJ & Producer have earned her acclaim in countless publications including Rolling Stone, Spin, DJ Times, Urb and Remix as well as licensing features airing on networks such as NBC, ESPN, MTV & HBO.

Together with partner DJ Faust, Shortee has launched two record labels: 5 Star Records (Hip Hop / DJ Tools) and Heavy Artillery Recordings (House / Dubstep / Drum&Bass). They also produced music together as "Faust & Shortee" and "Urban Assault". The duo’s “Drumcircle" was the theme song for MTV Sports Unlimited Access and their remix of India Irie's "Shine" was the theme song for The Tyra Banks Show. In 2008, their tune “Away” was nominated for best jungle/dnb track at the International Dance Music Awards and in 2009 their "Red Raider" EP was honored by TrackItDown & The Drum & Bass Awards as one of the top releases of the year alongside such artists as Subfocus, Deadmou5, Chase & Status and The Prodigy.

Four years as a head professor at The Scratch DJ Academy co-founded by RUN DMC's Jam Master Jay, Shortee also teaches DJ/Remix courses for the esteemed Grammy Foundation and has produced her own DVD series: Shortee’s DJ 101, Shortee’s DJ 202, and Turntable Tune-up. In addition she tours the world teaching DJ equipment seminars for Rane & Serato and has done workshops for the SAE Institute, Channel One News, and Sprite.

It is impossible to paint a complete picture of an ever evolving artist like Shortee with words alone so visit her website for more info, music, videos, tour dates & free downloads!

Back once again to help us celebrate our one year anniversary is one of the hottest breakbeat/electro producers in the world. Curtis B hails from central Flloida, the breaks capitol of the world. With original tracks hitting the top of the Beatport charts and his world class remixing skills, Curt is one of the fastest rising stars in the EDM community. He utilizes creativity, unparallelled skills, and influence applying elements of electro, tearout, tecfunk, 2 step, dubstep, funky breaks and house to bring out the distinguished sound of his bass driven beat heavy music production. Deep grinding bass, 8 bit arcade style edits, and articulate drum sequences have kept crowds jumping through entire sets without missing a beat. Curt has remixed and been remixed by some of the best in the business. His work with vocalists such as Liz Melody and Mafioso has taken his already floor stomping production to the next level with super melodic hooks and tru gangsta spit. Smiley

If you happened to be at Ultra this year, and were at the UMF Radio Stage, you would have caught Curt in this line-up alongside names such as: Hybrid DJ set, DJ Icey, Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Qbert, Deekline & Dustin Hulton featuring Sporty-0 & Shunda K, Baby Anne, Jen Lasher, Elite Force, DJ Enferno, Keith Mackenzie & Curtis B featuring Whiskey Pete, Stormy & Johnny Dangerously, Aleksus Sanchez, Noel Sanger, DJ Indigo, Justin Johnson & Big Fat Frog, Tritonal, Randy Siedman, Soul In the Machine, Ali Mahmud, Rabbit, DJ Hyro, Darin Epsilon, Gui Raffi, Mike Gibbs, Ryan Morales, Vinny From da Bronx, Peoples, Manus.
