sorry for the lapse in service for the past 24 hours . i'm sure some of you have been wondering what was going on , so here it is :
at around 4:00pm yesterday , users reported strange error messages appearing where the website should have been operating . just as i attempted to find the cause of the problem , the entire system locked up completely .
after spending several hours on hold with our service provider , i learned that there had been a system-wide hardware failure at the server farm . apparenly , there had been a fire in the server room , and our machine (which also holds the websites for about 50 other customers) became damaged .
today around 3:00 . they had replaced hardware and the site came back online in a semi-functional state . only the chat room and user profiles were working . i've been using various tools in an attempt to repair the damage to the database , and at this point , i think i have everything worked out .
from what i understand , other customers are complaining of similar problems , so startlogic (our provider) tech support has been monkeying around with server settings , and we've been having sporadic but minor problems . these should stop soon if they haven't already .
anyway , thanks for sticking around in the chat room and elsewhere . sorry if i scared any of you . i will always try to keep this place going .
